CONCERTO DI MUSICA CLASSICA: Theremin & Beyond; City Recital Hall, at 2 Angel Place, Sydney; 10,13,and 14 of May We had never ever ever heard of the theremin, a most unusual and utterly amazing musical instrument. One of the greatest practitioners of the theremin is the startingly beautiful Carolina Eyck who, in the company of the wonderful Australian Chamber Orchestra, will be performing in Sydney on the 10th, 13th, and 14th of May, at the City Recital Hall. Che c'entra con l'Italia? One astounding piece of music in the programme is Ennio Morricone's The Ecstacy of Gold, from the soundtrck of The Good, the Bad and the Ugly which in Carolina's interpretation truly shines. Below, you'll find, firstly, a hint of what Carolina will be gifting us at her performances; secondly, the original soundtrack of the movie version; and, thirdly, an equally extraordinary cello inspired interpretation by the great Yo-Yo Ma.
