Completed the Italia 500 Beginner 1 in-class, live online or online video course, or an Italian beginner course elsewhere? Currently enrolled in our Beginner 1 course and eager to increase your learning rate but unable to attend our in-class or live online Italian Beginner 2 course? Then the Italia 500 Italian Beginner 2 online video course, consisting of 8 online video lessons, and corresponding to level A1.2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages - is the course for you! Our Italian online video lessons are structured in the same manner as our Italian in-class or live online lessons. They provide for plenty of practice, and the teacher who presents the course, Giacomo, is humorous and has the teaching experience to anticipate what your next question will be, so you're definitely in good hands!

Course outline:

In the Beginner 2 online course - and please don’t let the grammatical terminology put you off - we study il passato prossimo in detail by describing how we spent the our time in Firenze. Also, we learn how to invite someone out and decide where and when to meet, and how to order in a restaurant. Rest assured: you'll be very surprised by how much you'll learn in the eight lessons!

How the online video lessons work:

Our online Italian video lessons are hosted on Vimeo On Demand. Each online video lesson was meant to be approx. 2.5 hours in duration but Giacomo got carried away (!), thus most lessons are quite longer.

Each individual online video lesson is split into a number of "parts", or "episodes", which Vimeo refers to as a "series". By clicking on the image link for each lesson above you'll be taken to the corresponding Vimeo On Demand page where you'll be able to view the trailer for the lesson and, if you wish, to "rent", for US$9.95
(payable by credit card or Paypal), all the parts or episodes which constitute the "series" for that particular lesson. When you "rent" a lesson you'll be able to watch, whenever you like, on your computer, tablet, or smart phone, the whole lesson for up to a year even though we do hope you won't be dawdling on a single lesson for a year!

In each online video lesson we provide you with instructions on how to download for free the course notes in Pdf format. The purpose of the course notes is for you to see the written form of what is being covered - especially if it's not very clear on the whiteboard - and to add your notes and translations, even for future reference. We don't explain things to any great extent in the course notes - all the explaining is covered in the online lessons. A cautionary note: Giacomo's main preoccupation whilst filming a lesson is to keep the lesson flowing, so he often changes between topics and, on occasion, forgets to indicate what page of the course notes he is working on. The course notes are not hundreds of pages long so we trust it shouldn't be too problematic to find the right page. If you are occasionally confused, please accept our apologies in advance!

Terms & conditions:

We truly dislike having to burden you with our Terms & conditions of use but, alas, we must:
  • Please be aware that courses at the Centre, whether in-class or live online, and our online video courses are not interchangeable: if you've enrolled in a in-class or live online course, you cannot, under any circumstance, switch to the online video course and receive a credit for your outstanding in-class or live online course lessons towards online video course lessons. Likewise, if you've enrolled in an in-class or live online course and you happen to miss a lesson, we cannot, under any circumstance, provide you with a credit towards the equivalent online video lesson, nor can we provide you access to the online video lesson independently of Vimeo On Demand, which manages both the streaming and the payment aspect of our online video lessons. Similarly, if you've purchased several online video lessons and find that you haven't had the chance to view them, and subsequently decide to join an in-class or live online course, we cannot credit you the cost of the online video lessons towards your in-class or live online course. If, on the other hand, you have followed several online video lessons and would like to switch to the equivalent in-class or live online course, and not have to repeat the online video lessons you covered, this is possible subject to the availability of an equivalent in-class or live online course at a time which suits you and that there be spots available in the course. The standard rate will apply for the remaining lessons in the course.
  • The payment aspect of our online video courses is managed, independently of us, by Vimeo On Demand, which deducts a percentage of the purchase price of the online video lessons, as a commission, prior to transferring the payments to us. Thus, we cannot offer refunds for our online video lessons, however we do provide a preview for each lesson which will allow you to gauge the quality of the sound, image, content, and approach. Also, we cannot extend the viewing period of an online video lesson (which is one year) or provide you with a "replacement year" if you've been unable to view the lesson in the allocated time, nor can we modify the settings of our Vimeo On Demand pages for individual users.
  • The online video lessons are not available for download, nor are they available on disk or memory stick - best to avoid problems arising from downloading and we really don't want to spend our lives trotting off to the post office mailing USB sticks and discs!
  • The Italia 500 online video lessons and course notes are for personal, non-commercial use. We trust that you, as the purchaser, will respect the considerable amount of time and effort we have put into our online video lessons and course notes and thus you will not distribute, transmit, sell, broadcast, rent, share, lend, modify, adapt, edit, and license them.
  • Italia 500 reserves the right to change at any time, without notice, any information which appears on this site, including the cost of renting our online video lessons and the duration of the viewing period.

Privacy policy:

When you purchase an online video lesson, Vimeo notifies us of the purchase but does not provide us your details. However, to purchase and view our online video lessons, you will have to join Vimeo. We trust Vimeo, which is a very reputable company, however do take a moment to read Vimeo's Terms of Service and Privacy Policy before joining (you'll find the links to both on the payment light box when you click "Rent all").
