Italia 500 review: Eva
Evviva!!!! We've received a lovely review from a lovely lovely lovely student called Eva:
"Great entry level course for any beginner wanting to learn some good basics of Italian."
Europeans and South Americans, by the time they turn 18, are very likely to have been learning formally a second language for 13 years. In many circumstances it may have been rather grammatical and bookish, overtly focused on reading and writing, but many will have backed their language learning with trips, and perhaps study periods, to the countries where the language is spoken. In Australia, as we all know, there isn't a similar tradition of learning languages, together with the grammar associated with the process, simply because there isn't a compelling need to do so.
When you offer and design a course you have to decide who the course is aimed at and, since we are in Australia, our Italian courses are designed for people who have grown up in Australia, have gone to school in Australia, have had little exposure to the formal study of languages, and are not very familiar with traditional grammar.
Eva joined an Italia 500 Beginner 1 course last year and we learned, at the first lesson, that she speaks fluently another Romance language. So her review is particularly valuable to us and we are truly truly happy that she found the course useful despite the fact that the course is not aimed at speakers of Romance languages. However, if you've learned a second language formally, or you speak a Romance language, or you studied Italian in years 11 and 12, or at university, or you've been self-learning for quite some time, or you've been learning Italian elsewhere, do call us before enrolling just to be sure that the course will suit you and try not to leave it to the last minute! Intanto, grazie Eva!!!!!!!
